Barn maintenance

by artc » Wed Jan 25, 2023 5:27 pm

Our barn is loosing siding shingles on both gable ends. they NEVER should have been used in this manner as 3 tab shingles will not seal properly. so they flap in the breeze until they break off. George and Ned have patched it a couple of times.

We need to cut 1" pine for this job, and either install it over the existing shingles or strip and replace.

Our cherry picker will not reach the peak, so we'll need to rent a larger unit for the upper part.

The barn also needs paint on the trim, as well as replacement doors front and rear.

There could be some financial assistance from the 1720 foundation for maintenance of the barn and farmhouse. i met with a woman from the foundation and discussed this several years ago, but we were never in a position to pursue the project.
